Abstract: An ovenable tray composite that includes a polymeric based liner and a fiber based component. The liner has an exterior surface layer and an interior surface layer comprising a polypropylene. The polypropylene has a Melt Index of about 0.2 grams/10 minutes to about 2 grams/10 minutes. The interior surface layer of the polymeric based liner is removably affixed to the interior surface of the fiber based component, and where the polymeric based liner and the fiber based component are manually separable.

Abstract: The invention provides a polyester sealant film having at least one of a heat sealing layer and a heat resistant layer, wherein each layer consists of a polyester component containing ethylene terephthalate. The polyester sealant film has (1) a heat sealing strength of the heat sealing layers of 8-20 N/15 mm; (2) a difference in reversible heat capacity (?Cp) for the heat sealing layer of 0.5-1.1 J/g/K; (3) a ?Cp for the heat resistant layer of 0.1 to less than 0.6 J/g/K; (4) a fold holding angle of 20-60 degrees; (5) a smaller curvature radius of 50-300 mm in a longitudinal or widthwise direction; and (6) a heat shrinkage ratio of ?5% to 5% in both longitudinal and widthwise directions. The invention also provides a laminate comprising at least one layer of the polyester sealant and a packaging bag comprising the laminate.
Abstract: A polymeric film includes a polyester substrate layer and a heat-sealable polymeric layer disposed on one surface of the polyester substrate layer. In some cases, the heat-sealable polymeric layer includes a copolyester A having a glass transition temperature Tg(A) in an amount WA and a copolyester B having a glass transition temperature Tg(B) in an amount WB. In certain cases, (i) WA>WB; (ii) WA is at least 50 wt % by total weight of the heat-sealable polymeric layer; (iii) WB is at least 10 wt % by total weight of the heat-sealable polymeric layer; (iv) Tg(A)>Tg(B); (v) Tg(B) is in the range of ?35° C. to ?10° C.; and (vi) Tg(A) is in the range of ?15° C. to 5° C.

Abstract: A container for cosmetic products and a method of manufacturing the same. The container, such as a jar, has a wall formed by a first layer of a compostable material which comprises in combination a biodegradable polymer which forms a continuous matrix and, mixed therein, particles of a hydrophilic material capable of swelling inside the matrix upon water absorption. The container further comprises a second layer of a compostable material which comprises a biodegradable polymer which forms a continuous matrix and which is essentially free from particles of a hydrophilic material capable of swelling inside the matrix, or contains essentially less of them than the first layer. The container is degradable in compost, disintegration of the container wall, at 58° C., occurring within 12 weeks.

Abstract: Polypropylene polymer compositions are disclosed that have excellent stiffness properties. The polypropylene polymer compositions are made by combining a first polypropylene polymer with a second polypropylene polymer. The combination of polymers has been found to produce a composition having high stiffness properties in addition to excellent toughness properties. In addition, the polymer composition has good flow properties for being molded into various products and articles. Of particular advantage, the different polypropylene polymers can be produced at relatively high catalyst activity, especially in comparison to high crystalline polymers made in the past.

An analysis of reactions between anthranilamide (AAA) and acrolein demonstrates how amines or amino amides can scavenge acrolein from thermally processed poly(trimethylene terephthalate) and poly(trimethylene furan-2,5-dicarboxylate), and thermodynamic models are presented as guidance for matching targets with scavenging agent.

The plurality of chemically recycled polyester chips further includes chemically recycled electrostatic pinning polyester chips. The chemically recycled electrostatic pinning polyester chips contain electrostatic pinning additives, and the electrostatic pinning additives are metal salts. Expressed in percent by weight based on a total weight of the polyester film, a content of the electrostatic pinning additives in the polyester film is between 0.005% and 0.1% by weight.

Abstract: A use of a low specific gravity PET composite material that is suitable for manufacturing a tableware article by injection molding is provided. Abstract: There is provided a co-injection-molded multilayer structure having a barrier layer and outer layers laminated on both sides of the barrier layer, wherein the barrier layer is made of a resin composition comprising an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (A) and an alkali metal salt (B) of a higher fatty acid having a melting point of 250° C. or lower; a content of the alkali metal salt (B) in the barrier layer is 50 to 1500 ppm in terms of metal atoms; and the outer layers are made of a resin composition comprising an unmodified polypropylene (E) and a maleic anhydride-modified polypropylene (F) having a lower melt viscosity than that of the unmodified polypropylene (E). Although it has no adhesive layers, the co-injection-molded multilayer structure exhibits excellent adhesiveness between the barrier layer made of an EVOH resin composition and the outer layer made of a polypropylene resin composition.
Abstract: A method for the direct fluorination of plastics and articles made from plastics is presented. The novel method includes ensuring extremely low oxygen and moisture content in the chamber before the primary fluorination step, ramping the fluorine concentration during the fluorination step, and providing a quenching step for improved shelf-life. Containers processed by the novel method demonstrate a marked improvement in barrier properties for organic solutions.

The process includes first selecting a polyolefin resin wherein said polyolefin resin comprises a linear low density polyethylene resin characterized by having from 9 to 35 weight percent of the total weight of linear low density polyethylene resin eluting from a CEF at a temperature greater than 97.0° C.; and further characterized by having a CDR of from 33 to 80 and a Mw Ratio of from 0.15 to 0.45. Next a film is formed from the polyolefin resin selected in the first step. Finally the film formed in the second step is oriented in a sequential manner. The films produced by this process are characterized by having an ultimate elongation at least 1.5 times greater in the MD as compared to the CD and the 2% secant modulus is a least 1.25 times greater in the CD as compared to the MD.

Abstract: Method of making a blow molded article from a preform including: a) providing a preform of a thermoplastic material having a plurality of effect structures each having an effect surface having a normal with an orientation, the preform having a body with one or more walls and an opening, wherein at least a portion of the one or more walls of the preform has a three-dimensional pattern of cavities and/or protrusions thereon; and b) blow molding the preform to form a blow molded article, wherein the step of blow molding the preform changes the orientation of the normal of at least some of the effect surfaces of the effect structures to create a visual effect in at least one wall of the blow molded article.
