Facsimile Control Unit Patents (Class 358/468)
  • Patent number: 8531739
Abstract: A reading apparatus includes an image reading unit that reads an image line-by-line and generates an image signal, a signal processing unit that performs signal processing on the image signal, a reference clock generation unit that generates a reference clock signal, and a PLL unit that generates a driving clock signal from the reference clock signal to be supplied to one of the image reading unit, the signal processing unit, and the reference clock generation unit. Skew in the synchronization between the reference clock signal and a driving clock signal is detected, and in the case where skew in the synchronization has been detected during image reading operations performed by the image reading unit, the image reading unit is controlled to read the image having returned to a position that is a predetermined number of lines previous to the current reading position.

Abstract: When a facsimile device detects an audio signal via a CNG signal detection unit while detecting an OFF signal in a CNG signal during a telephone conversation, the facsimile device does not detect the audio signal as an OFF signal if the level of the detected audio signal is greater than a threshold and the frequency of the audio signal is within a predetermined audio frequency range. Accordingly, the facsimile device can reliably prevent a false detection of a noise that has a similar signal component to a CNG signal as a CNG signal. It is possible to prevent the facsimile machine from being automatically shifted to a facsimile receiving mode by the false detection of the noise.

Abstract: In the development of custom SPOT color inks, there will be only a single combination of pigments that will produce the correct color for both the solid tones and for one or more halftones intermediate between the full tone and the unprinted substrate. A novel system and method is presented for finding such a combination of colorants without requiring a complex suite of software algorithms. The method includes a search of a library of known colored inks printed onto a specified substrate and printed using specified printing conditions. Each record of such a library can contain, for example, the ink formula, the combination of colorants and resin, the spectral reflectance factor of the ink and substrate, color values (XYZ and CIELAB) of the solid ink color (100% tone) and 10% steps down to 0% (unprinted substrate). In such a database halftones can be specified in units of % (0% to 100%), but can also, for example, be given as 8-bit integers (0 to 255).

Abstract: A printer driver conserves recording paper by removing blank space formed at the top and bottom of each page when printing. The printer driver acquires the coordinates of the top and bottom of the part of the print image, and calculates the page length required to print the middle area between the top and bottom blank space areas based on these coordinates. The print data for printing this middle area is then extracted and printed. When printing is completed, the recording paper is conveyed only the difference between the page length and the transportation distance of the recording paper to set the print head to a position separated only the page length from the printing start position of the area print data, that is, to a position touching the middle area. As a result, blank space between the middle areas of consecutively printed pages is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 8345322
Abstract: A scanning apparatus having dual power mode is described. The scanning apparatus includes a detection module, a switch unit, and a power controller. The detection module detects a first voltage signal and a second voltage signal for generating a detecting signal. The switch unit receives the commands from the power controller for outputting the first voltage signal and/or the second voltage signal to the image acquiring device of the scanning apparatus. The power controller determines whether the first voltage signal is detected according to the detecting signal. While the first voltage signal is detected, the power controller controls the switch unit to output the first voltage signal and/or the second voltage signal to the image acquiring device. While the first voltage signal is not exist, the power controller controls the switch unit to output the second voltage signal to the image acquiring device.

  • Patent number: 8305641
Abstract: An image-processing system for printing an image based on original image data. The storing unit stores at least one look-up table in association with at least one printing condition. The at least one look-up table is used to convert a color value in original image data into a limited color value that limits a total quantity of ink to be used in printing. The detecting unit detects, as a printing condition, at least one of a type of color material and a type of recording medium which are used for printing operation. The converting unit converts the color value data into the limited color value by using a look-up table that is assigned with a printing condition corresponding to the detected printing condition.
