    Abstract: An electrically assisted forming process and device for a high-strength metal alloy thin-walled pipe includes a die sleeve, wiring terminals, a pulse power supply, a die seat, sealing baffle plates, a drawing die, and a cooling water circulation chamber. A process for forming a high-strength metal alloy thin-walled pipe includes first, graphite or fusible metal, i.e., an aluminum rod, is introduced into a high-strength metal alloy pipe to be drawn to fill the whole pipe; and then, pulse current is introduced into a plastic deformation area of the thin-walled pipe. A cooling device can be provided to achieve a good cooling effect. The thin-walled pipe with corresponding length is cut according to a production requirement after processing is completed, and annealing treatment is performed in a vacuum heat treatment furnace.

    Abstract: A system is provided for imaging trapped ions in a quantum computer. The system includes an ion trap that traps qubit ions and includes electrodes that shuttle individual qubit ions between a first position and a second position spatially different from the first position. The system includes a first imaging lens that collects fluorescence from a qubit ion that is trapped over a surface of the ion trap; a first sensor in a first optical path output from the first imaging lens; a first pick-off mirror in a second optical path output from the first imaging lens that is different than the first optical path; a second imaging lens that collects fluorescence that is reflected from the first pick-off mirror; and a second sensor in a third optical path. Moreover, a controller controls the electrodes to shuttle the qubit ion from the first position to the second position.

The measurement circuit includes first and second chains of serially-connected buffer circuits coupled in parallel, each of which propagates an input signal. A set of storage circuits is configured to store logic values generated by the first and second sets of buffer circuits in response to the transitioning of a clock signal. The logic values stored in the storage circuits result in a digital value indicative of a total number of serially-connected storage circuits through which the input signal has propagated at the time of the transition of the operating clock signal.

    Abstract: A system and method for flood hazard estimation inputs a satellite elevation map and applies a machine learning model to output a geographic map representing flood hazard areas. The machine learning model is trained using a generative adversarial network (GAN) to produce an output of a deterministic hazard mapping algorithm. A GAN objective applies a loss function, reweighted to increase the importance of high hazard areas. The method retrieves a DEM topography file representing elevation data of an identified terrain, and applies a sink-filling algorithm to detect and fill sinks in the DEM topography. The algorithm subtracts the DEM elevation data to generate a filled topography, and identifies flattest regions of the filled topography. The algorithm then generates a flood hazard map by merging the filled topography and the DEM elevation data, using a weighting function that balances the detected sinks and the flattest regions of the filled topography.

Since Lamb waves have complex multi-mode characteristics, a suitable excitation frequency needs to be selected according to geometric dimensions of the structure to be measured, and then, only low-order mode Lamb waves are excited inside the measured structure to avoid serious waveform aliasing. For isotropic measured objects, anisotropic characteristics will be generated under the action of pre-stresses, that is, the propagation velocities of ultrasonic waves in all directions are different, but there is a linear relationship between velocity changes in different propagation directions and stresses. Therefore, there is still a linear relationship between the difference of velocity changes in different propagation directions and the stress.
