    Abstract: A labyrinth cartridge seal having a shell and a plurality of sleeves having corresponding portions to prevent axial and radial movement therebetween and particularly a labyrinth cartridge seal for use in a compressor for compression of a gas, such as oxygen, which restricts leakage of pressurized gas to a drive mechanism such as an oil lubricated gear box, to thereby reduce the likelihood of explosions. In one embodiment, the labyrinth cartridge seal includes a shell comprising a passageway therethrough, and four spaced-apart, concentrically aligned sleeves, axially and radially supportable along the passageway and generally sealable with the shell to define three separate chambers around the shaft. The shell has three ports, each one opening onto a different one of the three separate chambers for venting or receiving a supply of buffering gas. Also disclosed is a compressor incorporating such a labyrinth cartridge seal.

An automatically actuated flow controller is adapted to reroute the flow of lubricant to the primary pump when the machine rotates in a reverse direction thereby assuring that lubricant is supplied to the machine bearings, and the like, to prevent the machine from being damaged. The mechanism also has the ability to deliver a metered amount of lubricant to the main pump from an auxiliary pump to prime the main pump when the main pump is shut down thus allowing the main pump to be quickly brought on-line.

    Abstract: A method for positioning a number of working implements, for example spray nozzles, to certain working or treatment points on a car body as the latter is supported by an overhead conveyor for travel between different working and assembly stations on a production line. A vertically movable base structure is provided and a working implement carrying frame is movably supported on the base structure. Hydraulic jacks on the base structure are arranged to accomplish a vertical parallel movement of the frame up toward the underside of the car body until one of four contact sensors indicates contact with the latter. A final vertical adjustment of the frame is accomplished by four vertical cylinders which raise the frame in a non-parallel movement until at least three of the four contact sensors indicate contact with the car body. The docking of the frame to the car body is completed by activating two expandable dowels which are introduced into openings in the car body bottom shell.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for insulating a spray liquid source from the high tension voltage of an electrostatic spray gun (13) when using an electrically conductive spray liquid. A spray liquid supply line (12) couples the spray liquid source to the spray gun and comprises an insulating device (14) in the form of a closed vessel (16; 26; 36) containing an electrically non-conductive liquid which is not mixable with the spray liquid and which has a density different from that of the spray liquid. A sprinkler nozzle (21; 31; 41) is arranged to disintegrate the spray liquid into separated drops which are transported through the insulating liquid (17; 27; 35) in the closed vessel at least by the influence of the difference in gravity acting on the two liquids. The separated spray liquid drops form a discontinuation of the electrical lead through which the high tension voltage propagates upstream through the supply line.

    Abstract: A device for insulating the spray liquid source from the high tension voltage of an electrostatic spray system when using an electrically conductive spray liquid. The device comprises a spray gun (13), a supply line (12) which connects the spray gun (13) to a spray liquid reservoir (10) and which includes a vessel (16) containing a barrier forming liquid (17) of low electrical conductivity and a density other than that of the spray liquid. The vessel (16), which is substantially non-conductive is connected at its inlet end (24) to ground potential and at its outlet end (19) to the same high potential as the spray gun (13). An electrode means (22; 25) is provided in the vessel (16) to expose the spray liquid passing through the vessel (16) to at least one intermediate potential for controlling the tension gradient in the barrier forming liquid by limiting and controlling the charging of the spray liquid.

The ring gear (20) of the planetary reduction gear (13) is rotatably as well as axially movable in the housing (10) and forms together with the housing (10) a torque responsive release clutch which is arranged to transfer a reaction torque from the planetary gear (13) to the housing up to a level determined by the axial bias force provided by a spring (28) acting on the ring gear (20). The release clutch comprises a cam (22, 26) for axially displacing the ring gear (20) against the action of said spring (28) upon rotation of the ring gear (20) relative to said housing (10) as a certain reaction torque level is exceeded.
